5 Health Practices for the Fall
The past two winters I have battled serious respiratory illnesses. I spent the spring and summer working on my physical health and fitness. Here are some practices I am implementing to hopefully help me stay healthy this fall and winter.
Super Nasya Nasal Oil - My friend @samantha.surgent, who also happens to be a yoga instructor and Ayurvedic enthusiast, told me that she used this throughout the winter last year and felt that it kept her healthy through the spring. I have incorporated it into my routine as of this week. I love the eucalyptus smell of the oil and use it before bed and in the morning.
Oil Pulling - I have started oil pulling with coconut oil and I add some essential oil depending on how I am feeling. I do it for 5-10 minutes in the morning when I am getting ready for my day and follow it up with tongue scraping.
Essential Oils - I use this in a diffuser and on my feet combined with a carrier oil to help keep me healthy throughout the winter. It smells delicious.
Supplements - This is not medical advice and would be different for everyone. You need to ask your medical provider what is right for you. I use a combination of a few antiviral herbs, vitamins, teas and homeopathy to help keep me healthy and recover from illnesses.
Subconscious Reprogramming - In early spring I learned a new skill that allowed me to work with limiting beliefs around my health and reprogram my subconscious to align with the experience I wanted to have. I was able to integrate affirmations using my new skillset and the affirmation: “Everything I do to support my health works.” Prior to this, anytime I felt like I was coming down with something it will fully manifest. I would see other people in my life feel under the weather and “fight it off”. That was never my experience. I haven’t been sick since I did this work on my subconscious despite multiple illnesses in my home over the spring and summer. The two time I felt I might be getting sick I was successfully able to “fight it off” with supplements, homeopathy and sleep!
