Chasing Sunsets - 3 New England Getaways

This summer was magical for so many reasons. Here are some of the best spots I visited around New England. Keep these in mind for a fall getaway or when you plan for next summer.

  1. Ogunquit, Maine - Ogunquit means “Beautiful Place by the Sea”. My family has been coming to this part of Maine for generations. Here are some of my favorite things to do when I visit year after year:

    - Walk the Marginal Way along the ocean

    - Visit Perkins Cove and discover Perkins Cove Candies and The Lobster Shack

    - Ride up the coast and get ice cream at The Scoop Deck

    - Walk the beach from Ogunquit to Moody

    - Dinner at The Lobster Pound

  2. Provincetown, Massachusetts - I visited P-Town for the first time this year. The fast ferry ride from Plymouth, MA was one of the best parts of this day trip, eliminating cape traffic and adding to the adventure. I love to be on the water. Daytrip Itinerary:

    - Fast Ferry to P-Town from Plymouth or Boston

    - Walk around town and grab lunch at The Mayflower

    - Take a guided Mayflower Trolley Tour

    - Climb Pilgrim Monument (the view from the top makes it worth it)

    - Visit Provincetown Museum

  3. Kennebunkport, Maine - I seem to always end up here with my girlfriends. We usually plan an overnight as a quick getaway and it’s just enough time to catch up. Tips:

    - The Nonantum Resort is one of the only local hotels that allows for 1 night stays in the summer high season

    - Earth at Hidden Pond offers a seasonal, farm-to-table dining experience

    - Walk up along the oceanside cliffs to check out Camp David

    - Take a sunset cruise on Schooner Eleanor
